Do not ask one village to provide every version of Provence.
Lourmarin gives a graceful, sociable village day. Cassis offers harbour and Mediterranean landscape. Les Baux brings monumental stone and a major cultural attraction. Gordes is the long-view Luberon image. Sainte-Victoire is closest and most connected to Aix.
The strongest choice is the one that creates a real contrast with the rest of the stay.

02Reality of the route
Car, coach or private day
The return journey belongs in the selection.
A car provides flexibility but transfers parking and navigation to the traveller. Public transport works for selected destinations but must be tested against the return. A private guide can combine expertise and transport where the route is complex.
Avoid long celebratory lunches when the driver also intends to taste wine.
